Piraeus – Milos ferry: Minoan's night boat to Adamas and back

Milos is a stop on Minoan Lines' overnight run from Piraeus to Heraklion. On every date in the table the ship leaves Piraeus at 21:00 and reaches Adamas at 01:00; the boat back leaves Milos at 01:50 and is in Piraeus by 06:30.

21:00 is the time Minoan Lines gives for leaving Piraeus for Milos on every evening from Monday 2 to Monday 30 November 2026, and 01:00 the next morning is its arrival time at Adamas, the island's port. Milos is not where the ship stops for the night: it carries on to Heraklion in Crete, and the boat back to Piraeus is the one coming north from Crete.

That arrangement makes the return the leg to plan with care. Throughout November the Piraeus-bound ship leaves Milos at 01:50, in the small hours of the date on the ticket, and docks in Piraeus at 06:30. A sailing listed for Tuesday 3 November therefore means waiting at Adamas late on Monday night, not on Tuesday afternoon.

Kydon Palace works every other night, and its partner changes during the month: Festos Palace first, Knossos Palace from mid-November. All three take cars and offer cabins as well as deck space and airplane-type seats. The table holds the November dates read in Minoan's own booking search on 2 November; the company sells further ahead, to 31 January 2027, so later dates need checking on minoan.gr.

From Piraeus the ship arrives at Milos at 01:00 the next morning. The 01:50 from Milos leaves in the small hours of the date shown and reaches Piraeus at 06:30. Kydon Palace takes every other night; the alternate nights go to Festos Palace in the first part of the month (from Piraeus until 10 November, from Milos until 12 November) and to Knossos Palace after that.
Minoan's terms define a timetable arrival as the moment the ship reaches the harbour entrance, so allow a little longer before you are ashore. Minoan said on 22 October 2026 that sailings are on sale until 31 January 2027; only November is shown here, and its date selector covers the rest.

Every November sailing carries the same one-way price for an adult, whichever way you travel and whichever of the three ships is on duty. Minoan's terms say its fares include the sea passage and port taxes, while meals and drinks on board are paid for separately.

Cabins, cars and motorbikes are priced in Minoan's booking engine and are left out. Under-fours are carried free of charge, though Minoan still issues them a ticket, and its terms and booking engine use different age bands for older children, so confirm a child's fare when you book.

Piraeus gates and the terminal at Adamas

Piraeus is a large port with numbered gates (E1, E2 and so on), and the one used by a given ship can change. The Port Authority's online board lists each departure with its gate on the day, which is more reliable than any fixed advice. On Milos there is no such choice: the Minoan call is at Adamas.

The pin marks gate E2, where the Piraeus Port Authority's departure board placed Kydon Palace for its sailing on 30 October 2026. Gates are allocated sailing by sailing, so look up your own date before heading to the harbour. Minoan's domestic passengers report to the port office at least an hour before the 21:00 departure.

South from the Saronic Gulf to the Milos call

Minoan's itinerary code for this line is Piraeus, Milos, Heraklion, so Adamas is the only call between the Athens port and Crete. The company publishes departure and arrival times rather than a crossing time: 21:00 out of Piraeus and 01:00 at Milos on every date in the table.

Before you board a night boat to Milos

  • Identity document at the gangway

Minoan confirms passenger details as you board. Carry an identity card or passport: a passenger who cannot prove their identity can be refused boarding and loses the fare.

  • One hour at the port office

Domestic passengers must report for check-in at least an hour before departure. Arrive later and Minoan may give your place away without a refund.

  • Landing on Milos at 01:00

The arrival time is the ship reaching the harbour entrance, not the moment you walk off. Settle how you will get from the Adamas quay to your bed before you leave Piraeus.

  • Bags you need overnight

The garage decks are shut while the ship is at sea. If you drive on, take anything you want during the crossing out of the car before parking it.

  • Travelling with a pet

Minoan's terms name pet cabins on Knossos, Festos and Kydon Palace, and kennels on deck. Animals are kept out of indoor public areas, and their owners must carry an up-to-date health record for them.

  • Cancelling a ticket

Minoan refunds in full up to 14 days before departure, 75% from 13 to 7 days, 50% from 6 days to 12 hours, and nothing in the final 12 hours.

  • Strikes and bad weather

Seafarers' strikes, bad weather and orders from the shipping ministry change sailings at short notice. Minoan posts revised times as announcements on minoan.gr, as it did for the 24-hour strike on 30 October 2026.

A Cretan line with a stop on Milos

Minoan Lines, part of the Grimaldi Group and based in Heraklion, serves Milos as an intermediate call on its Piraeus–Heraklion line. Northbound, the ship leaves Heraklion at 21:00, reaches Milos at 01:35 and sails on at 01:50; southbound, it continues to Crete after the 01:00 call. Fast Ferries' island guide places Milos in the south-west of the Cyclades between Kimolos and Sifnos and gives its area as 151 square kilometres.

Other companies list Milos as well, but none of their times appears in the table. Fast Ferries' Dionisios Solomos works the western Cyclades from Piraeus, yet the three or four weekly departures it announced run only to 31 October 2026, and its times are shown solely in its booking engine. Seajets' route list names Piraeus–Serifos–Sifnos–Milos without any dates, and Aegean Sea Lines said in June 2026 that its ship Anemos was leaving the fleet. For a short daytime trip from the same port, the Piraeus – Aegina ferry page covers Saronic Ferries' boats from gate E8.
