Take the metro or electric railway to Piraeus and walk to gate E8: Saronic Ferries sends every one of its Aegina sailings from there, and puts the walk from the station at five minutes. Its ferries are conventional passenger and car ships that land at the main harbour in Aegina town, and the company gives the crossing as 1 hour 10 minutes and the adult fare as €12.00.
Then look up your date, because Saronic has not published a winter timetable for this route. The Aegina page on its website has a viewer that shows the next day's sailings in both directions, with arrival times and the name of the ship, and its booking pages show later dates. As a dated example only, the calendar for the end of October 2026 gave seven or eight sailings each way on ordinary days, which shows the spread but is no promise for your date.

What Saronic charges for the Aegina run
Saronic's fare table gives €12.00 for an adult between Piraeus and Aegina's main port, and the Aegina page shows the same figure. Neither page says whether that buys a single crossing or a return, so the booking total for your own dates is the figure to rely on.
Children aged 5 to 10 pay half, and those under five travel free, according to the same page. The ferries also take cars and motorbikes at their own rates, but the fare page is silent on whether the person at the wheel pays separately, so those vehicle prices are left off this page.
| Adult (Saronic's listed fare; single or return not stated) | €12 |

From the E8 quay in Piraeus to the harbour of Aegina town
The gate and ticket offices described below are Saronic Ferries' own. A hydrofoil or high-speed ticket from another company shows where that boat leaves from.
Piraeus (gate E8)
Every Saronic sailing for Aegina leaves from gate E8, which the company says is a five-minute walk from the Piraeus metro and electric-railway station. Saronic has a ticket office in the port where booked tickets can be collected up to 45 minutes before departure.
Aegina (main port)
Aegina has three ports: the main harbour in Aegina town, Souvala on the north coast and Agia Marina on the east. These ferries use the main harbour, where Saronic also has a ticket office. The company runs separate sailings from Piraeus to Souvala, so read which Aegina port your ticket names.
Fifteen nautical miles across the Saronic Gulf
Saronic puts Aegina 15 nautical miles from Piraeus and the crossing at 1 hour 10 minutes. Its own day lists time the Antigone sailings longer, at 1 hour 25 minutes, while those on Achaeos and Poseidonas take 1 hour 10. Some sailings in the daily list carry on from Aegina to Agistri.
Before you leave Piraeus for Aegina
- By train to the quay
Get off at Piraeus station on the metro or electric railway; Saronic reckons gate E8 is five minutes' walk away.
- How early to arrive
Saronic's own pages disagree: the Aegina page suggests 20 to 40 minutes before departure, its FAQ 45 minutes. Ticket offices hand over booked tickets up to 45 minutes before sailing.
- E-ticket on your phone
Online check-in opens 48 hours before departure; you can then board by showing the e-ticket to the crew instead of queuing at the office.
- Car, motorbike or bicycle
All three travel on these ferries. Saronic caps an electric or plug-in car's charge at 40% on boarding, and an LPG or natural-gas vehicle's fuel at half its tank.
- Dogs and cats
Pets travel on the outer decks or in the kennels on the covered decks; by law they may not stay in the enclosed passenger areas.
- Step-free boarding
Depending on the ship, passengers with disabilities board by escalator or lift with a crew member's help; tell the ship's officer before boarding.
- Changing or cancelling
Bookings can be changed up to one hour before departure, at most twice. Cancelling more than seven days ahead returns the whole fare, three to seven days 75%, and up to 12 hours before departure half.
Hydrofoils, strikes and the Saronic fleet
Saronic's ferries are not the only boats from Piraeus to Aegina. Aegean Flying Dolphins runs hydrofoils to Aegina and Agistri, but its published Saronic timetable covered 1 May to 31 October 2026, and no winter table was on its site when this page was checked. Hellenic Seaways sends its Aero high-speed boats to Aegina as well, and sells them only through its booking engine. Each company sells its own tickets. Longer routes leave the same port too: Minoan Lines' overnight ship to Adamas, on the Piraeus – Milos ferry page, uses a gate allotted sailing by sailing rather than E8.
Saronic's fleet page lists five passenger and car ferries: Antigone, Apollon Hellas, Achaeos, Poseidonas and Phivos. Saronic's daily viewer names the ship on each sailing, so you can see which of them is on your crossing. Strikes by the seafarers' unions can stop every sailing for a day; Saronic's FAQ says a ticket for a sailing lost to a strike or to bad weather can be refunded in full or moved to a later ferry, subject to space.
